How to buy cooker and oven in Nigeria online
Choosing the right cooker and oven can be confusing and even difficult even in the midst of myriads of cookers in the market. This is simply because cookers and ovens are the most important investments we make in the kitchen and getting it wrong can cause discomfort for the family.
Types of cookers in the market in Nigeria
There basically 3 types of cookers in the market:
1. Electric cooker, 2. Gas cooker, and 3. Hybrid (Electric and Gas) cooker.
Each of these types can come with or without an oven. The cookers without ovens are referred to as Table top cookers because as the name indicates, they are places or rested on a table in the kitchen when in use.
What to consider before you set out to buy your cooker?
There is already too much information about the features and specifications of cookers available here at Ngpricehunter.com. In this guide we will point out some of the major factors you should consider first before you start looking up the cookers available in the market. Some of these factors are:
How much are you willing to spend on your cooker?
The prices of cookers are determined by their features and specifications. No matter the type of cooker you decide to buy you do not need to invest money on functions or features that you do not need. However, it is not a bad idea to invest on a cooker with features you may need in the future if you can afford it. Just be realistic.
How large is your family and how much do you cook at once?
The size of your family determines that amount of cooking that is done at a time. A small family of 2 %u2013 4 persons can make do with a 2-burner gas cooker or a 2-plate electric cooker at the minimum but a family of 6 %u2013 10 persons may need to consider a 4-burner gas cooker or a 4-plate electric cooker at the minimum.
Do you really need the oven?
In some homes all that is done is just basic cooking with no need for baking or grilling that requires an oven. When this is the case, there is no need to buy a cooker that has an oven. A table top gas burner or Table top electric hot plates should do. These are cheaper than the the burners or plates with oven attached.
Electric Cooker, Gas Cooker or Hybrid (Gas & Electric) cooker?
Electric cooker can be a good choice if you have access to constant electricity. However, if, like it is the case for many homes in Nigeria, you have no access to constant supply of electricity you may seriously consider buying a gas cooker or a hybrid cooker. With the hybrid cooker, you may use electric hot plates when there is electricity or the gas burners when there is no electricity.
The poor electricity situation and the occassional scarcity of gas is worth considering hybrid when buying your cooker and oven. Brands like Beko, Ignis, Haier Thermocool, Scanfrost have hybrid cookers in the market at affordable prices.
It is advisable to buy cookers that come with manufacturers warranty. When buying online, you have a choice between Jumia cookers, Konga cookers or any other tested online shop's cookers but make sure you buy only cookers from well known brands like Ignis, Haier Thermocool, Scanfrost, Beko etc with warranty.
